Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Come to See Him

While Jesus was talking to the people, his mother and brothers came to the house but were unable to enter because of the large crowds which thronged about it.

A messenger came to Jesus, saying:

“Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.”

But Jesus replied to the messenger:

“Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?”

Then Jesus stretched his hand in the direction of his disciples and said:

“Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in Heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
